01
Check a specific intake and wing
Eligibility is a set of separate checks: date of birth, education, nationality, marital status and medical requirements. Start with the UPSC notice for the examination you intend to enter and identify your preferred wing or course. An older notice is useful for orientation but cannot establish eligibility for a future intake.
02
Education and school subjects
The Army wing and the Navy and Air Force pathways have different educational conditions. For the Army wing, check the notified Class 12 or equivalent requirement. The Air Force NDA entry specifies Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2. Check the corresponding Naval wing and Naval Academy provisions separately rather than assuming every defence entry uses the same subject or percentage rule.
- List your subjects exactly as recorded on your school documents.
- If appearing in Class 12, check the permitted proof-of-passing deadline.
- Do not borrow JEE or percentage conditions from a different technical entry.
03
How to check the NDA age limit
Use the inclusive birth-date range in the examination notice. Compare your documented date of birth with both ends of that range; a rounded age such as “about 18” is insufficient. Repeat the check for each intake, particularly if you are planning an additional attempt after Class 12.
04
Create an application evidence sheet
Record each requirement beside the document that supports it. This makes a consultation or application review specific: you can identify an unresolved qualification issue rather than asking only whether you are “NDA eligible”. Keep copies of your submitted application and the notice you used.
- Date of birth and the prescribed supporting certificate.
- Class 12 result or appearing status and required subjects.
- Nationality and any applicable eligibility certificate.
- Wing preferences, identity details and document deadlines.
05
When a detail is unclear
Consult the clarification or contact channel identified by UPSC or the relevant recruitment authority. Coaching can help you interpret the pathway and organise questions; only the recruiting authority can resolve an official eligibility decision. Avoid paying for a programme on the assumption that coaching enrolment confirms application eligibility.
