Important: This guide explains career pathways; it does not replace the notification governing a particular examination, entry, or intake. Verify current requirements before acting.

01

Officer pathways

Army officer routes include UPSC-administered examinations and service-notified direct entries. NDA, CDS, technical, NCC, JAG and other specialist routes each apply distinct education, age, gender, commission and shortlisting conditions.

  • UPSC routes: NDA and CDS as notified.
  • Direct routes may include TES, TGC, SSC Technical, NCC Special Entry and JAG.
  • Entry availability and vacancies can change by course.

02

Agniveer and other notified recruitment

Army recruitment categories, rally or examination process, physical tests and eligibility must be read from the current recruiting-year notice. We do not treat an older category list as permanent.

03

Choose by role and commitment

A career decision should consider the nature of field and staff responsibilities, training, service terms, family expectations and long-term development—not only perceived prestige or an exam name.
