Group discussion practice worksheet
Discussion practice should develop listening and useful contributions, not just confidence in speaking. Try the original practice topic: How can colleges encourage meaningful community service? It is an academy exercise, not an official SSB topic.
How to use this worksheet
- Write a starting view, one supporting reason and an alternative perspective.
- Discuss with peers. Ask a genuine question and build on another person's contribution.
- Complete the review afterwards, noting what others said as well as what you said.

Check whether you added a relevant point, represented evidence accurately and allowed room for others. Notice interruption, repetition or attempts to dominate without treating this sheet as an official marking scheme. Quality of participation matters more than a self-imposed speaking count.
Make your next step specific
Repeat with a fresh topic and focus on one habit from your review. If practising alone, outline two contrasting viewpoints before recording a short explanation; this does not replace the experience of listening and responding to a real group.
